A child's disturbance in balance can interfere with their ability to perform the most basic skill against gravity, walk, run, jump and climb stairs. Several sensory systems, including the vestibular system, the proprioceptive/somatosensory system, and the visual system, work in conjunction along with range of motion and strength to produce functional balance responses. At Pediatric Potentials, we institute interventions for balance training when our physical therapists determine that a child has a balance deficit. Doing fun integrative exercises in a play-centered manner, we help your child achieve new developmental levels that will provide long term functional outcomes.
